Travel Agency / Spanish School / Volunteer organization - Peru

While myself and Stephen were volunteering in Peru, we got asked to develop a complete system for this company. We designed, built and tested an internal travel agency system which dealt with booking, reservation, payment, customer details etc. This system also integrated with an existing system built to manage the volunteers and spanish school students. This was done completely in Spanish.

Complex web system
The existing system was to take bookings, change bookings, payments etc manually, which created many problems, and limited the income to this company, our system transferred it to match the existing business plan, and improve where possible:

• We had many requirement meetings, with the employees, owners, and customers to fully understand the requirements of the new system
• Developed the system, and tested it, with weekly update meetings
• Developed the system to output reports on multiple areas of the system
• Trained the staff to use and maintain the new system

Technical Information
The following technologies were used

• Web application was built using object oriented PHP each section built in modules for easy modification in the future.
• Used Flash, html, JavaScript.
• Used smarty templates to separate the html, flash and front end to the php/mysql back end.
• Associated database was built using MySQL.
• Graphics were designed with paint shop pro, fireworks.
