RCSS Application - Ireland

This complete web application was created for the Irish education system. The majority of the primary schools in Ireland use this system, it is a complete system, allowing teachers to request specialty teachers to come to there school and teach them new teaching skills. It was an advanced reporting system that integrates with excel.
I worked with Stephen again on this project, which took us approximately 3 months to complete.

Complex web system
The RCSS online applications main aim was to help to keep track of the RCSS teacher visits to the primary schools in Ireland. This project kept track of hours,mileage and payments for national teachers working in their supplement teaching program. The working environment required us to partake in various different roles:

• Worked as front end developer, database developer, flash developer, software tester and project management
• Organized and hosted weekly meetings with development team and customers
• Met with clients to plan out the projects, time frame, costs, and schedule
• Developed an advanced portable solution to reporting using Excel linking to the systems database.
• Still provide support for this system.

Technical Information
The following technologies were used

• Web application was built using object oriented PHP each section built in modules for easy modification in the future.
• Used, html, JavaScript.
• Used smarty templates to separate the html and front end to the php/mysql back end.
• Associated database was built using MySQL.
• Graphics were designed with paint shop pro, fireworks.
• Cron jobs were run daily to export CSV files for the required reports
• An Excel application was used to take the CSV as input, and run macros to produce detailed tables and graphs.
